One UI 7.0 is bringing some significant changes for Samsung's mobile operating system. While the company itself hasn't revealed many details about it so far, a lot of information has been leaked so far, including screenshots that have revealed some for the design changes.
Samsung DeX is going away with One UI 7, but probably not the one you're thinking of. In the footnotes of the landing page for DeX on Samsung's UK website, the company shares that the next version of its mobile operating system will not support the DeX app on Windows. Instead, it's pushing users to Microsoft Phone Link and the Link to Windows app.

In the official notice, Samsung provides details about how existing users will be impacted and what alternatives will be available, after the termination of Edge Panels download from Galaxy Store.
The Samsung DeX app enabled users to mirror their mobile device's screen on their Windows PC. They could also use the app to seamlessly drag and drop files between the devices. This is different from the standalone DeX functionality on its phones and tablets that powers a PC-like interface and support input devices like keyboard and mice.

For Samsung Galaxy users, the good news is that Microsoft Phone Link covers all the existing functionality of the Samsung DeX app on Windows, and then some. To make the switch, users will simply need to download the Link to Windows app on their Android phone and set it up using the Phone Link app on their Windows 11 PC. We have a complete guide to using Phone Link here.
This isn't the only software element that's being removed from the new iteration. It has also emerged that One UI 7.0 won't allow Edge Panel downloads from the Galaxy Store. Perhaps Samsung has taken a long, hard look at the things that weren't being used at any major scale and decided to cut them in the interest of simplicity. That's something we can get behind.
