Sometimes it's kind of amazing how Quora surfaces through my synopsis immediately after a question suddenly becomes relevant.

So a few days ago, I answered a question on Quora about what it's like to use a Fleshlight: Franklin Veaux's answer to What's it like to use a Fleshlight? I've always found them to be pretty good, and usually only buy them when I'm crowdfunding people I want to see succeed.<o:p></o:p>

In that answer, I mentioned in passing the idea of getting some super soft silicone to see if I could make better silicone than I've ever used.<o:p></o:p>

Inspired by that question, I did. I bought some super soft silicone (holy cow, I thought hard silicone for dildos was expensive at $200 per gallon, but the price of the really soft stuff is eye-watering! ), sat down at my computer and designed a DIY sex toy.<o:p></o:p>

Tentacles, of course.<o:p></o:p>

I rendered the mold in Blender and Meshmixer, printed it out on my 3D printer, and poured in silicone.<o:p></o:p>

This was my first attempt: a tube with a tentacle inside.<o:p></o:p>

When the silicone solidified, something strange happened to the color. Not sure why.<o:p></o:p>

Anyway, it was ...... surprisingly effective. It proved to be quite interesting.<o:p></o:p>

I made the cylinder too thick, which meant I wasted a lot of silicone (you're looking at almost $20 worth of silicone here!) ) . So I redesigned the mold to make it thinner, added tentacle suction cups to the outside of the mold (purely for decoration), and made some other changes to make the mold easier to remove.<o:p></o:p>

For the v2.0 mold, I wanted to see what would happen if I mixed the silicone in two batches, painted each batch a different color, filled half of the mold with one color, and then filled the rest of the mold with the other color.<o:p></o:p>

I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't.<o:p></o:p>

Silicone is a weird thing.<o:p></o:p>

So there it is. By far my best homemade DIY sex toy for men.<o:p></o:p>

I'm considering using version 3.0, which is still a little thinner - it's much thicker than it needs to be - and embeds a rechargeable lithium polymer battery, a programmable ATtiny microcontroller, and, I don't know, a four or five or six vibration motors in silicone, just to see how it works.<o:p></o:p>
