We could argue all day about the merits of iOS versus Android, but there’s one thing the Android ecosystem offers that you definitely won’t find from Apple right now: a decent midrange phone.
Apple just finished releasing the initial M4 Mac lineup, with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max going into the iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro. While those are likely the last announcements for the year, there’s still a lot in the pipeline for next spring. Here’s everything to look forward to.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to have a similar design as the base iPhone 14, with rumored features including a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a newer A-series chip, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of RAM to enable Apple Intelligence support, and the previously-mentioned Apple-designed 5G modem.

Apple is spending much of its marketing capital on Apple Intelligence, but the community is looking forward to another release. New details on the iPhone SE suggest the release is getting closer, and it could be a release that promotes Apple’s entry into the ferocious mid-range market and opens up Apple Intelligence to a broader audience.
Perhaps the biggest announcement for next spring will be Apple’s most affordable new iPhone: the iPhone SE. This is expected to be the biggest upgrade to the iPhone SE since it debuted in 2016, bringing it up to date with the modern iPhone lineup.
It’s expected to finally be dropping the home button, with a new form factor similar to the iPhone 14. iPhone SE 4 will also be Apple’s first iPhone to integrate an in-house modem, transitioning away from Qualcomm. It’ll also adopt the USB-C connector.
Update: Sunday November 17: Writing for 9to5Mac, Michael Burkhardt notes five products that Apple is expected to launch early in 2025. That list includes the iPhone SE (alongside the iPad 11, iPad Air, the M4 MacBook Air and new smart home products).
Although this is going to be a smaller refresh (especially now that Apple added 16GB of RAM to the existing M2 and M3 MacBook Air models), Apple will still be adopting the new M4 chip in the MacBook Air next spring.
Apple announced the third-generation iPhone SE during an online event on March 8, 2022. The device looks similar to the iPhone 8, with outdated features such as a Touch ID button, Lightning port, and thick bezels around the display. In the U.S., the iPhone SE currently starts at $429, but the new model might see at least a slight price increase.
