Then came four-time Pro Bowl, All-Pro Justin Smith. After that came five times Pro Bowl, three-time Mut 24 coins All-Pro running back LaDainian Thomason. And then came seven-time Pro Bowl, three-time All-Pro Richard Seymour. The next pick, Andre Carter, made one Pro Bowl and has 78.5 total sacks in his career.
The most significant criticism of Warren is the kind of group he keeps at the top of the draft however that doesn't show how bad the Browns are in selecting. He's surrounded by six players who played in a Pro Bowl. Only thing that might be more problematic is that the Browns next pick the wide receiver Quincy Morgan, is also placed between six players who played in a Pro Bowl. (Reggie Wayne, Todd Heap, Drew Brees, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Alge Crumpler, Chad Johnson.)
Brown, Warren, Couch Brown, Warren, Couch Morgan are only several examples of the reason the Browns have been so sloppy for many years. They were terrible talent assessors that did not recognize the right players. On the plus note, they actually did locate two players to start this list.
Cleveland is a great city!
Honorable Mention: Here is where we could fit Leonard Davis. If you're a draft ahead of Warren, you don't exactly expect to land guards, but that's the situation with Arizona in addition to Davis. Davis was a six-year player for the Cardinals in which he changed the lineup from right guard to right tackle to a mediocre left tackle, before leaving and becoming a Pro Bowl guard with the Cowboys. Davis will have an excellent career however, he is just another black mark on the face of the Cardinals draft history.
8. Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville - 10th overall, Houston, 2007
It's my intention to start with saying that Okoye has always been a unique player. There are certain aspects that will be memorable to me on draft days, memories that last forever and make sure that I'll always follow certain players whom I don't actually have any attachments to and Okoye will forever be one of those guys.
There was a lot made about the fact that Okoye, 19. was going to be the youngest pick in the first round ever. He chose Louisville when he was just 15 and then he resisted Harvard to do so. He played in the college game when he was 16. He graduated at an early age. He was a second-team All-American at 19. He had a great head on his shoulders and was a top sportsman for his age and the prospect of what Okoye was capable of becoming was an overwhelming thought. But at a certain time, is it too much to emphasize what a player could be as opposed to what he is? Should Okoye really have been more suitable for the third round of the draft as an opportunity to develop and possibly be able to play regularly when he's 23 or 24. instead of when he's 20?
However, the Texans did not consider his age and picked them, and they also ignored the next group of players chosen, which included Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, as well as Darrelle Revis. Do you see the Texans today without Willis as well as Revis?
One might note how the selection process in 2007 was full with disappointments, which included players selected ahead of Okoye, such as Levi Brown, Jamaal Anderson and Ted Ginn Jr, but Okoye may be the one in that area that stands out the most due to the truth that it's a risk to select teenagers into Madden NFL 24 that early in the draft. He played for four seasons in Houston and has also been an in-line member for the Bears in the past two years.
The bright side is that there is still time for Okoye to improve his performance. After all, he is only 25!
Honorable Nomination: Six picks after the Packers chosen defensive tackle Justin Harrell out of Tennessee. The player began his career recovering from ruptured biceps tendon. then showed up to OTAs overweight He played in seven games as a rookie. He started 2008 with the PUP playing in six games during the season He was out for all of 2009 as well as all but one game in 2010. and was out of the game with 14 games played and two starts. That's an Harrell of a lot less that Green Bay expected.
7. Mike Williams, WR, USC 10th overall Detroit, 2005
It's among the least controversial items on this list, don't you think? There are too many aspects in the form of "WTF?" to ignore the fact that Williams at the Lions at the 10th spot made completely no sense.
The Lions had just drafted Roy Williams at seventh overall the year before. The Lions had just drafted Charles Rogers at second overall in the year prior to Roy Williams! He did not play football for one year.If you're about to load onto a position for three years in a row and you're with the Lions then surely you're taking wide receivers? I guess if you're playing for the Lions with Matt Millen it is logical. He was selected over DeMarcus Ware Shawne Merriman, and Derrick Johnson. And not forgetting Aaron Rodgers, at a time where you could have dismissed Joey Harrington without much fight from anyone else besides Joey Harrington.
Instead, they picked Williams, a player that actually caught 47 passes, gaining 449 yards with two touchdowns over two seasons in Detroit, and even Williams himself admits that he ate his way out of the league. He certainly gets a substantial bite from this list.
Honorable Recognized Troy Williamson went to the Vikings three picks ahead of Williams. The athlete had the 4.32 40-yard run I'm guessing that did enough convincing Minnesota to use the pick they got for Randy Moss on his replacement. The problem is that he more closely resembled the Moss who was a player for the Vikings at the end of his career, not at the start of his career.
6. Tim Tebow, QB, Florida - Denver 25th overall pick 2010.
Josh McDaniels on Tebow: "He has all the characteristics that you're looking for. This is a great choice."
It's easy to sit there and consider Tebow's appearance on this list is a ploy to get page views, but it's a lot more obvious that the Broncos utilized a 2nd, third, and fourth round draft pick on one player , as some kind of gimmick to get the attention of others or because they didn't care much about his on-field skills and attributes. When you heard the praise of Tim Tebow the quarterback, they used terms like "football player" the term itself can only describe about 99.9 percent of players on the Madden NFL 24.
The 0.1 percent, at some scale, can be seen as guys similar to Tebow. Players that do not possess the physical qualities or the skills to compete in the professional ranks, yet get opportunities based on the college experience they had.
In the case of success in the Madden NFL 24 the game, it doesn't matter whether you won a Heisman Trophy or a national championship. Players like Jason White and Charlie Ward weren't considered to be more important by the league due to what they accomplished in college. It's a decent example of Eric Crouch, who was drafted as a wide receiver by the Rams and is in the top ten spots on this list even though the Rams only gave him a third round pick but never even made the cut to play in his rookie season. What's more amazing is this Tebow was a first-round choice that did not be able to make it through his third season in Denver and is now considered to be a project not worth investing in by most?
If Tebow was not Tebow and we didn't, we could be overlooking the fact that the team traded three players with the Ravens in order to take him in the top 25 overall however, if Tebow wasn't Tebow it's unlikely to have happened. Denver could have seen a rapid recovery due to the acquisition of Peyton Manning after two seasons and perhaps made the playoffs in 2011. but the move was not an enviable one and won't be.
The Honorable Mention Award: It's hard to argue that the Cardinals weren't doing a terrible thing in selecting Matt Leinart with the 10th overall selection in the year 2006. after all you need an experienced quarterback in the league, and Kurt Warner was just going to keep his seat warm. But could due diligence in the decision of Leinart's performance prompted them go another direction? Perhaps Jay Cutler, Haloti Ngata, Kamerion buy madden 24 coins Wimbley, or Chad Greenway? or really, anyone who hasn't recorded just 18 starts over six years.
Where Jason Smith is? Jason Smith?
Smith took the top overall selection in 2009.
