Apple Inc.’s ambitious plan to create in-house components for its devices will include switching to a homegrown chip for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections starting next year, a move that will replace some parts currently provided by Broadcom Inc.
The chip, code-named Proxima, has been under development for several years and is now slated to go into the first iPhones and smart home devices produced in 2025, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Mark Gurman reported that Apple will launch revisions to its Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini in 2025.
There were no details in the report other than the release window, but for Apple’s home devices that seldom receive updates, it’s great to know new models are on the way.

At its annual developer conference in June, Apple said that it plans to use its own server chips to help power artificial intelligence features on its devices.

I’m especially interested in seeing how Apple’s Wi-Fi chip might lead to a new Wi-Fi router in the future, too.
