Wedding party styles mix old favorites, new ideas(0)

While lace, satin and ivory remain pretty consistent trends for wedding gowns, be prepared to see a lot more mixing and matching of colors for others in the bridal party as you’re scrolling through Pinterest when planning your big day.

There are a couple trends that stand out for grooms and their supporters.

“I’m seeing a lot of bow ties — a lot of blue, which is different,” says Myles Antle, Manager at Leibowitz Menswear.

Antle can vouch for Pinterest as a big inspiration for particular styles this season. Customers will describe an image they found hoping to recreate that look.

“People are doing almost a sports coat with a different color pair of pants. I’m selling a lot of vested suits (as opposed to more of a traditional black tux),” Antle says. He also has noticed several requests for just a vest.

Leigh Anne Swarts, owner of Bridal Boutique, has been seeing this trend as well.

“A lot less jackets, a lot of bow ties with color in them,” she says. “They don’t want to do the full jacket look, just the pants and the tie — sometimes just suspenders and a fun bow tie and pants.”

In other words, grooms are becoming more individual.

Bridal gown trends remain fairly consistent — still mostly ivory or an ivory lace over a pale color. Because everything is lace, the more popular style seems to be fit and flare or a ruffle skirt.

According to theknot.com, the top short wedding dress trends from Bridal Fashion Week this year include the “dipped” V neckline, blush-colored dresses, cropped tops, feather finishes, floral prints, layers of lace, stone-washed shades, bridal suits and Victorian touches.

Cosmopolitan magazine echoes the “plunging V” trend. Some brides are brave and choose a neckline that goes really deep or something that has illusion paneling to feel more secure.

With shoes, brides aren’t just sticking to traditional heels.

“I have noticed the boot trend is still happening a lot,” Swarts says. “I’ve had a lot of brides do Converse because you can customize them or use a monogram.”

Bridesmaids aren’t afraid to stand out this season, either. A few trending bridesmaid dress styles, according to theknot.com, include tea-length wedding dresses online australia, the one-shoulder look, cap sleeves, a tiered skirt, cotton lace and even a two-piece design.
