Stefano Gabbana Doesn't Care If You're Angry That He Dressed Melania Trump for Her White House Portrait

Melania Trump's official White House portrait was released Monday, and while some on social media have criticized the portrait for putting her massive 15-carat wedding ring (and air-brushed glow) center stage, Italian designer Stefano Gabbana was pleased that she is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana blazer.

He took to his personal Instagram account to post Trump's portrait, taken by Belgian-born photographer Régine Mahaux, with the caption, "#DGWoman BEAUTIFUL #melaniatrump Thank you #madeinitaly," and a mix of heart emojis and the American and Italian flag emojis.

Not all of his followers were thrilled with the post.

One follower @_boyafraid_ wrote, "So you have lost a follower, and worst, an admirer," only to have Gabbana respond, "i dont care!! Really." Gabbana even told one user in Italian: "vai a cagare," which translates to "go to hell." Even with all those that disagree with Gabbana, his post still managed to garner more than 9,000 likes.

This isn't the first time Gabbana has praised Trump's style via social media. After FLOTUS wore a $2,995 Dolce & Gabbana dress on New Year's Eve, Gabbana posted her look on Instagram with the same #DGWoman and #madeinitaly hashtags. Similar to this time, he didn't care what others had to say about his support of Trump.

Gabbana is no stranger to controversy. In 2015, Gabbana and his design partner, Domenico Dolce, landed in hot water after calling children that were born through in vitro fertilization (IVF) as "synthetic" and stating that IVF pregnancies were "chemical offsprings and rented uterus." Their remarks led Elton John and Ryan Murphy to call for a boycott of the brand. The design duo have since apologized for their insensitive comments.

Unlike other designers who have refused to dress Trump, including Tom Ford, Zac Posen and Christian Siriano, Gabbana seems to have no problem putting her in D&G designs.

For her two official White House portraits, first lady Michelle Obama wore dresses by American designers Michael Kors and Reed Krakoff.
