Manus x Machina Metropolitan Exhibit Extended Through Labor Day

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's fashion exhibit "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" has been extended through Labor Day. The exhibit was initially set to run through Aug. 14. Curated by Andrew Bolton, the show has drawn a slightly smaller crowd than the record-breaking attendance for last year's exhibit, "China: Through the Looking Glass," but there's still time for that to change.

IMG Cancels Toronto Fashion Week

Due to a lack of funding, IMG Canada has canceled Toronto Fashion Week. "We are constantly evaluating our fashion properties to make sure that they best meet the needs of designers and the industry — both locally and internationally — and we felt like the time had come to make a change in Toronto,” said Catherine Bennett, senior vp and managing director of IMG Fashion Events & Properties. "We really felt that our Canadian fashion footprint was not generating the local commercial funding that we really required in order for us to continue producing the event to the highest standard.” IMG Canada has sponsored Toronto Fashion Week since 2012.

PETA Activist Dressed as Karl Lagerfeld to Protest Fendi's Fur Show in Rome

A PETA activist dressed as a giant Karl Lagerfeld showed up at Fendi's Haute Fourrure show on Thursday evening in Rome to protest the Italian fashion house's use of fur. Since showing his fur collection for Fendi last July, Lagerfeld has been the target of several PETA protests, and they're not afraid to bring his pet Choupette into it, either. "Lagerfeld is willing to put a fox or mink through all that just for a coat, so it makes us wonder how his beloved cat #Choupette would feel if she knew," the organization wrote on Instagram.
